Governor and Education Commissioner to present administrative restructing proposal

AUGUSTA – The forum scheduled for 7 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 30, to answer questions about the Governor’s Local Schools, Regional Support Initiative has been moved to Peakes Auditorium at Bangor High School.  The move was made to accommodate more people. Sen. Joseph Perry of Bangor, who helped organize the event, and other legislators will participate.

The forum is one of several being held by Gov. John Baldacci and Education Commissioner Susan Gendron to bring the Initiative directly to the public.

The LSRS Initiative is Gov. Baldacci’s plan for streamlining central office administration and shifting resources to the classroom for academic excellence.  There will be time for questions from the community.

Baldacci and Gendron have also announced an additional forum at Skyway Middle School in Presque Isle for Wednesday, Feb. 7, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Additional forums will be scheduled and will be announced as details are finalized.
